Room for you
and your thoughts…or a few friends
Far away from it all, and somehow just about an hour from Baltimore and Philadelphia, in a clearing surrounded by farmland, you’ll find “Uncle Bob’s Cabin.”
Amanda’s Great Uncle Bob hand-built the log cabin, which he lived in for many happy years, and it gives the Poppei family great joy to share this gift.
The cabin is a fully functional house with two bedrooms: one with a double bed and the other with a double and a twin. The main room has a working wood fireplace; the kitchen and separate dining room offer space to connect; and the greenhouse is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the sun.
A short walk away, there’s a beach on the Elk River where you can swim and kayak.
There is no landline at the cabin, but there is wifi. Cell service can be spotty at times, but mostly you should be able to receive phone calls and texts. Regrettably, you can also take a Zoom call and check your email.
Outside, the cabin has a patio, an outdoor fire pit, a hammock, and a grill. Inside, the fully functional kitchen lacks only a dishwasher (we suggest meditating as Thich Nhat Hahn would), and the basement has a washer and dryer. The cabin is stocked with plenty of linens, and in addition to the bedrooms we have a double air mattress, and we’re told the living room sofa makes a surprisingly comfortable bed for one!
The cabin has heat and AC. Winter in the area is mild, summer is hot, and spring and fall are gorgeous. The cabin is a 15 minute drive from charming Chesapeake City, a small canal village, and 20 minute drive from Elkton, which has all the big box stores you might want.
Entering the house requires climbing two short sets of stairs and is not wheelchair accessible.
